Today Was The Day

As you all heard, T.I. is officially getting locked up for a year and a day on the gun charges he got back in '07. This is not just because I'm a fan of T.I. but as a regualr person, I think that if he didn't get time served for all the community work that he put in before the sentencing, he should at least get a lighter sentence. His show on MTV seemed to effect those kids in a real positive way and that shouldn't be over looked. I also hope that he continues helping out kids that need a positive figure in their lives.

Here's an interview he did with CNN:

I also got another mixtape for you guys to listen to.

I found these vids while I was just checking out my feeds. Enjoy and see you guys later.

This song is off of Blu & Exile's album "Below The Heavens" which you all should cop.

Finally...lol

Finally, I went to see the movie "Last House On The Left" and I must say that it wasn't that bad. For all of you that don't know, the movie is about a girl who gets kidnapped by criminals (that's all I think I can say so I don't ruin it for the people that haven't seen it.) Out of 5 stars, I would give it 3. There were good parts but the parts that didn't have any action seemed to drag on.
There's the big SXSW event that's happening as we speak (not literally of course). Here's a great clip I found.

Hey Hey Hey

Nothing much has been going on these last two to three days. Actually, I just got back home from hanging out with my boys. I'm still plan on seeing the "Last House On The Left" unless something unexpected happens, which normally does happen so its actually expected (lol did you guys get that). Anyways, here's a vid on one of the best rappers ever! Who else but the Notorious B.I.G. I hope to continue to here from you guys.

Whats going on people? Everything is going good on my side. Hope everyone is well. Did you guys happen to catch that new VH1 show "Tough Love?" For those who don't know, its a reality show about a male matchmaker helping 8 women find a perfect match. The thing that's different about the show is that the matchmaker (can't remember his name) holds no punches when he's telling the women how they are progressing. I don't know about anyone else, but I like the show. Women do need someone to come in and tell them what they need to hear, instead of telling them what they want to hear. Oh, for those hip-hop heads out there I found two great mixtapes that you guys need to hear.

I recommend both mixtapes if you love creativity in your music (its kinda sad that I actually have to say that but with people these days, you don't know lol)

Check these two videos out. They are funny as hell...

Hey There

I haven't a log in a few days. Let's see, I went to Ninjitsu class on Wed. and had a sparring match for the first time. I would say it went pretty well. Tomorrow (Sunday) I might be going to see that new horror flick "Last House On The Left," I have my doubts but I'm hoping that the movie turns out decent.
Also, I just found two of my cousins that I haven't seen in like 12 years on Facebook today. Sure brings back memories as a little kid.
I hope everyone is well. I promise that I will blog about the movie and other things the next two days.

The Male Perception On Television

I know you guys are looking at the title to this blog and wondering why I decided to write about it. Well, I was watching the Maury Show and as you know it was some woman claiming that some guy was the father. The thing that actually upsets me is that it seems like EVERY guy is the father ALL the time. With all of those tests, its not possible that all of results are positive. They show some with negative results but that seems like once in a blue moon or something.
Now, I'm all for finding who the father is and if that said guy is the father, then him stepping up to the plate. I feel think even if the man is proven not to be the father, he is still looked upon like a deadbeat just because he denied being the father and he was right. Doesn't anyone besides me question why the woman who lied and said that she only sleep with this guy and was obviously proven wrong, is still looked upon like the victim?
Overall, I'm just saying that men are usually seen as the aggressors and women are seen as the victims when we all know it isn't like that all the time. I love the ladies and always will, but ladies, isn't it time to stop playing the victim all the time, it's getting old now (lol).

Reggie

Wazzzup!

Wazzup guys. Hope you guys aren't upset that I haven't written a blog in two days. Anyways, I went to see the Watchmen movie last night and it was fantasic. There was a couple of changes made in the movie from the novel, but the makers of the movie probably felt that some of the changes were necessary to make the movie a little more relevant in this day and age. I obviously won't say which changes were made as to not spoil the movie for those who haven't seen it.

Oh, I almost forgot, I know most of you guys have seen the trailers to the Watchmen movie and me and one of my friends were talking about it. Neither of us knew the name of the son, but knew that it was a Smashing Pumpkins song. Well, I found the song on YouTube and here it is, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pxM4EbN9lMY

(I couldn't embed the vid because some error came up and wouldn't let me post it)
In other news, I knew everyone has heard that A-Rod needs surgery and I am so happy! Not happy that someone hurt themselves, but more happy because now the Yankees have to prove that spending almost $500 million on three players was worth it (plus I'm a Red Sox fan, so anything that makes the Yankees worse makes me happy lol.)

That's all for now, I hope you guys are reading my blogs. As I said before, any comments, suggestions, feel free to contact me.

Until Next Time,

Reggie

Pure Sexyness

As you guys will learn reading my blog, I'm a huge gearhead. I just love cars, there's no ifs, ands, or buts about it. I was just surfing across the web and saw these two beautifully sculpted pieces of metal that were presented at the Geneva Motor Show.

The first beauty is the Aston Martin One-77. I couldn't find the specs (horsepower, suspension, etc) on this car, so if anyone finds this, plus send me the specs. Believe it or not, this car is going to be priced at around $ 1.415 million and it won't be the most expensive car. That title goes to the Bugatti Veyron Fbg par Hermes, which as of now costs $ 1.956 million. The second car (and my personal fav) is the Bugatti Tiger V14 Edition Especiale Louis Vuitton Bilbo Baggins-Etranger Bvlgari Prete-a-Bourgouise Bouger-A-La-Bordel Veyron (pretty long name huh lol) You can see the extra two wheels in the front, which should make for some complication suspension configuration (and even more of a bitch to work on if anything happened to the front.) As of now, no price has been announced, but I'm looking forward to more news on this beauty.
That's all for today folks. I just wanted to share a little more of me. Stay true to yourselves and push the pedal to the floor sometimes.
Until Next Time,
Reggie

My First Ever Blog.

So as you can see by the title, this is my first ever blog. I basically decided to start a blog to voice (type) my opinions so everyone can see. Whether it be something I see, hear and experience through this wonderful experience (though sometimes it can be just dreadful) we know as life, you will read about it and you're welcome to agree or even disagree with my views and comment.
Now that little introduction is out of the way, I will get into what is on my mind at the moment. A couple of days ago, I was in a record store (major chain which I simply choose not to name) and I came across these two guys talking about the state of Hip-Hop and where it went wrong and why. One of the guys said that it was because of P.Diddy that Hip-Hop went south to the shallow, uncreative state that we see it in now. The other person in the argument didn't really think anything was wrong with it and that the music is simply evolving to match the minds of the younger, more flashier youth of today compared to the more "rough, ruggged, and raw" mentality of the people in the late 80s-early 90s.
Now, I'm just looking through dvds to buy and not even looking or thinking about buying a music cd and they turn to me and ask me my opinion on the subject. After I commended the second guy for his views, I simply told him that the music evolving theory was only an effect of Hip-Hop seemingly going into the gutter. My opinion, is that there is one point in Hip-hop
s timeline, specifically one song that changed the music to what we know it now; "Killing Me Softly" by The Fugees. Now, I love The Fugees and I love "Killing Me Softly" like most people do and I might have a few (more like many) arguments against my opinion, but I feel, without that song, the genre as we know it to be could be different.
People (like those who like to read the credits inside the album booklet like me) should know that "Killing Me Softly" was a cover from Roberta Flack's version that came out in 1973, which was a big hit, but her version was actually a cover from "Killing Me Softly with His Song" the 1971 song composed by Charles Fox and Normal Gimbel (sung by Lori Lieberman). Anyway, the song (The Fugees version) showed many people in Hip-hop that you could make lots of money in the music business rapping if you had one major single. After, this song came out, you could see the effect on numerous artists that went from "rough, rugged and raw" to "clean, flash and all about the dough."
Just to sum it up for everyone, the impact of that song is that it seems to me that artists feel that they could make just one good song and add album filler so they could sell more (even though many people were buying even with those high cd prices back then. And now, because of the "lets make that hot single" mentality, I feel that artists in generally how to be creative and instead wanted to copy off of whats hot at that moment, which we see even more today. People are using the same beats, same samples, even down to the same lyrics (which is completely ridiculous and even more redundant.) Finally and the most important reason is, that I feel, like I know others feel the same way is that artists don't have that same passion for the music like they use to. It seems like they care more about the money and they flash things instead of what is really important; THE MUSIC.
That's right, the music is most important thing in any genre and to any artist, producer, composer, fan, and it even applies to the high-level execs. Without that solid base of creativity and passion, we, the listeners, end up hearing and seeing a product that in many cases will catch our attention for that quick second but when we go back into our lives, we probably won't even remember the title of that song that was heavily promoted and played over and over again on the radio and t.v..
My solution is this; Every artist no matter what genre of music you sing, rap, compose, produce, whatever, should make their own label so they dont have worry (fallback) on the fact that their record execs don't want creativity. After they have their own labels, then they should record and think to themselves "did this song/album demonstrate my full creativity?" If artists today did that, then lots of albums would be pushed back or never released. It's like that old saying, " less is more." So to all those artists that are being creative, keep striving, so that when that day comes and your number is called, you can step up to the plate and deliver that good music that we listeners need nowadays.
Well, that was enough of my little rant on the music biz. This blogging this is not that bad. I think that I can get used to this. Anyone have an argument, comment, or any RELEVANT info on this blog, do not be scared to comment me or send an email my way (I promise to respond to all emails and comments in due time.) Stay creative and more importantly true to yourselves no matter what you do.

Until My Next Post,
Reggie
